EBOLA IN SIERRA LEONE – MENTAL HEALTH RADIO PROGRAM

What is most terrifying? #Ebola or the fear of it and its attached mental health challenges? The SLMHI (Sierra Leone Mental Health Initiative), a group of mental health professionals in the US working to promote mental health services in SL, is launching this Saturday a series of four radio programmes based on the WHO PFA for Ebola outbreaks materials to share information about mental health care and allow listeners to call for questions and comments. Seize this opportunity now to not only have answers to your question but also benefit on how to manage the challenges of #Ebola and other corresponding issues in partnership with the ENABLING ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH, MENTAL HEALTH COALITION, YOGA STRENGTH, Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture).   1. The Mental Health Radio Program was a very good initiative centered around sensitizing people about Mental Health and the myths around mental health. I am suggesting that funds be provided to conduct routine radio programs at district levels (14 districts), so that people at the grass root will be well sensitized. This will create more awareness about mental health and allow people to “come out of shadow” to access mental health services within their local districts
